My journey becoming a Production designer has been something never expected. It all started with a Diaper Cake which I made from scratch then soon enough I was designing and event planning baby showers, corporate events, retreats and Christmas parties in Calgary AB.
As I did this I got a chance to work at Big Rock Brewery where I would work at all the events, trade shows and festivals. Then the time I became a Big Rock Judge for The Eddies, an annual event that turns beer drinkers into advertisers, marketers and film makers all in the name of BEER.
Soon after that I got the opportunity to work one of Calgary's leading shopping centres where I worked as marketing assistant and for the first time became in charge of a corporate website.
From there I joined a PR & Event company that produced various events, fashion shows and trade shows across the city. I helped with many launch parties of local designers watching them grow their brand. I even dabbled in becoming a Production Manager of a cutting edge online fashion magazine.
It all changed when I happened to be onset of the iconic show, Hell on Wheels where I ran into a friend who insisted this is where I should be.
After that conversation I packed my car, grabbed my dog and drove to Vancouver with not knowing a single soul.
Hence the rest is history!
This is why I am a firm believer of taking chances.
